This week in maths, year 3 will be focusing on fractions. They will be looking at understanding and finding equivalent fractions. In English, they will start with a comprehension and then move onto recaping speech. They will look at the rules of speech, how to punctuate speech correctly and then have a go at writing their own speech including split speech for a challenge! Then, they will finish the week with a SPaG lesson. In reading, they will continue to read The Jam Doughnut that ruined my life! and the answer the questions that go with it. This week’s science lesson continues to look at plants and you will find out how pollination works. In Geography, the children will be looking at rivers within Greece and researching facts! In PSHE, the children will be looking at how to stay positive in such a strange period. In PE, they will be taking part in a Joe Wicks workout and in art they will be designing their very own Ancient Greek temple!

This week in maths, year 3 will be focusing on fractions. They will be looking at comparing and simplifying fractions. In English, they will start with a comprehension and then move onto descriptive writing. They will decide on a setting and character to describe and collect a range of descriptive words to use. They will then write a setting description and a character description. Then, they will finish the week with a SPaG lesson. In reading, they will continue to read The Jam Doughnut that ruined my life! and the answer the questions that go with it. This week’s science lesson continues to look at plants and you will find out about plant growth. In History, the children will be looking at gods and goddesses and creating a fact file! In Computing, the children will be looking at algorithms again and getting creative in scratch! In PE, they will be taking part in a Joe Wicks workout and in art they will be designing their very own Ancient Greek temple!

Year 3 – Children’s Activities – 29th June

This week in maths, year 3 will be focusing on fractions. They will be looking at finding fractions of amounts and then sharing 1 and more than 1. In English, they will start with a comprehension and then move on to writing an adventure story. Firstly, they will plan their story and then use their knowledge of speech, fronted adverbials and powerful vocabulary as well as their character and setting descriptions to help them write their story. Then, they will finish the week with a SPaG lesson. In reading, they will continue to read The Jam Doughnut that ruined my life! and the answer the questions that go with it. This week’s science lesson continues to look at plants and you will find out why plants are important. In Geography, the children will be reading some facts about Greece and writing a paragraph. In Computing, the children will be looking at algorithms again and getting creative in scratch! In PE, they will be taking part in a Joe Wicks workout and in art they will be painting a picture of an Ancient Greek vase.
